Hi, I’m Anna. My ideas rarely start with pictures. I find them in books, films and philosophical concepts, then look for the principle a project can be built on. From there I develop a system of grids, type and rules, and carry it all the way to print: paper, binding, finishing. I also like to make the work itself faster. I write plugins that take routine off the team, so there is more time for the parts that need a person.

Every project starts with research into its context and ends in print. Step 2 is where the project turns: one principle that everything else follows. I also write plugins that speed up steps 3 and 4.

The packaging became the new style of BUÄ. Through it we found a new metaphor for the brand, and the same style now carries over to the care products, the store stand and social

In the foothills of the Sikhote-Alin live small groups of the Udege, descendants of an old culture of taiga hunters. BUÄ is a brand I built around two of their traditional hats, the bogdo and the pumpe. Each hat is unique, but it is constructed so that parts of different models can be combined into new versions.

Instead of standard icons, the product speaks through Udege signs. Each of the seven comes straight from their culture: animals, places and images that matter to the Udege. Each stands for one of the protective qualities of the hats, and they are spread across all the boxes.

The same system covers care products: a brush, a bleach cream and a solid soap in a tin, with their compositions set in the same voice as the boxes.

In Denmark, or rather in Copenhagen, or rather in the part of it that lies on the island of Amager, there is a unique settlement. A city within a city, a state within a state. The place is known all over the world, and it is called Christiania.
