About me
Hello! My name is Elina, I’m an illustrator and animator based in Russia. My portfolio showcases my character design work: I create and develop expressive characters suitable for most animation pipelines. This includes 2D and 3D animation, frame-by-frame or rigged.

A drop in the Ocean
After his spaceship crashes into the ocean, a small scavenger robot must brave the deep sea to find fuel for his ship, unexpectedly befriending the strange underwater creatures he meets along the way.

The main character is a curious, adventurous little robot. His design was supposed to reflect these qualities: technical, advanced, yet friendly and almost animal-like.The robot’s color scheme is supposed to contrast with the deep blue ocean and bright, cool-coloured critters living in the sea.

The sea animals, instead, have friendly-shaped silhouettes that were designed specifically to contrast with the technical look of the main character.

She rose from the dead, and everyone fell in love with her
After getting dumped by her boyfriend and abandoned by her friends, a young lady gets into an accident and finds herself in the world of the undead. With the power of personal growth, acceptance — and some divine intervention! — she returns to the living world as a new version of herself.

The main character was meant to rock a spooky, goth look, while at the same time appearing cute or even whimsical. I’ve attempted to design her in a way a very young girl might imagine herself after a bad day — as a cool, striking demoness with fishnets and horns. Her real-world design is plain and quaint compared to the transformed look, but it retains the main color — bright pink — as a pastel pink hoodie to tie the two looks together.

Her guardian angels — little cherubs — were designed to be cute and very child-like. Yet to match the general spookiness of the project, I’ve decided to give them a plain, single-color fill and an almost alien-like glow. The love interest was meant to be edgy and cool, the kind of guy a tween might fantasize about. I’ve explored some designs inspired by emo and goth cultures and settled on the leftmost character.

Amoeba
A small Amoeba drifts around the primordial soup in search of sustenance. Just as she finds the perfect piece of seaweed, she is beaten to it by a swift Radiosa. Will the little Amoeba be able to find some food to eat after all?

Amoeba. Production Frame.
The main character, Amoeba, and her rival, Radiosa, are designed to be highly contrasting — Amoeba has a soft, rounded silhouette and a soft teal body color, whereas Radiosa is a sharp, striking star-like creature in bright cool red. The other microbes complement their designs.
