ANNA KOZHINA (Anich) | Illustrator

I’m Anya, an illustrator with a focus on folk motifs, naive art. I create expressive visual stories, reinterpreting traditional cultural codes through bold graphics, contrasting colors, and humor. My work ranges from character design and editorial illustrations to packaging and merchandise (especially merchandise). I’m looking to collaborate with design studios, publishers, and creative teams on projects where illustration plays a central role.
MY PROJECTS

Blind Bags | ZOLOTISHKI
Problem
Develop a character series of blind bag toys that reinterprets traditional Slavic imagery (matryoshka, egg, maiden) for a modern, and east-oriented audience. The characters needed to be highly recognizable and work across both digital and physical formats.Idea
Move away from canonical folk painting while preserving recognizable silhouettes. Use vibrant, contrasting palettes (red, green, blue), bold outlines, and minimalist but expressive facial features. The characters are united by a shared naive aesthetic, yet each possesses its own personality.

Result

A series of characters suitable for packaging, sticker packs, animated idents, and souvenirs. The concise graphics allow the images to scale easily without losing their lightness and visual impact.
Postcard Series | KARGOPOL SKAZKA

Problem
Develop a series of illustrated postcards for a travel agency specializing in regional tourism. The postcards needed to promote the town of Kargopol by showcasing its famous traditional clay toys, making these historical folk artifacts appealing and memorable to modern tourists and travelers.
Will be selling at the local hotel.Idea
Reinterpret the traditional Kargopol clay toys through a modern, playful, and bold lens. Instead of realistic rendering, use flat shapes, thick black outlines, and vibrant contrasting backgrounds.
A unifying decorative frame with cross-stitch motifs ties the series together, making them look like a cohesive collectible set.

Series Of Illustrations | STRAY DOGS

Idea
Depict stray dogs not as sad victims, but as vibrant, energetic characters with their own distinct personalities and chaotic lives. Use highly saturated, non-realistic colors (acid pink, vivid yellow, deep purple) and dynamic, comic-book-style brushstrokes. Incorporate urban elements—trash cans, littered bones, and walls plastered with «MISSING» posters—to build a rich, humorous narrative in each frame.
Result
A cohesive, eye-catching series of postcards that work as standalone art pieces and collectible items. The bold color palette and exaggerated, expressive linework create a unified visual language that turns a gritty urban theme into a playful and stylish statement.
