My name is Valeria Zhukova. I am currently in my final year at the Interior Design Faculty of the Higher School of Economics in Moscow and plan to graduate in 2027.Professional skills and tools: I am confident in using industry‑standard programs such as Revit, Photoshop, 3ds Max, and Figma. In addition, I am actively investigating ways of integrating neural networks in my work.Additional skills: Photography, videography and color research play an important role in my professional work. We will examine these aspects in detail after the presentation of my main projects.
⊹ Design project of the «Kolos» pavilion
This project illustrates my approach to complex space planning. In this work, I created a clear scheme that reflects functions of a large public space.The pavilion’s concept reveals Russia through the image of an ear of grain — a symbol of nature, origins, and vitality. By combining the natural element with the innovations, the project presents Russia as a «genetic code for the future», where nature and technology create a sustainable world.
The objectives were to fit the shape into the landscape, divide the streams of different audiences and create a concept that reflects the future of the country.
⊹ The design project «School — a puzzle»
This is an important project that taught me how to work in a group. Together with my colleagues, we developed a concept that guided us through the project’s blocks. I was in charge of the kindergarten part of it. The leitmotif and formative element of the school is a unique puzzle shape, designed specifically for the project, combined with the standard puzzle form, which symbolizes growth, development, and the combination of «multifaceted fragments of knowledge» into a holistic picture.
The main objective of this project was to create a welcoming and educational space that would express a strong concept and reflect the values of the school and kindergarten.
⊹ Design project of the «Oboo» hotel
This work became key in shaping the conceptual approach. Through research of a location, I derived the main idea of the project.The hotel’s design concept draws on Buryat beliefs, where each area is inhabited by its own spirits. For the most powerful of them, an oboo — a pyramid made of stones is constructed. Thus, the oboo becomes the foundation of the project, permeating every detail of the interior — from stone tabletops and wall panels to full‑size installations.
An important point in the hotel project was to preserve the historical value of the place and redefine it in a new way.
⊹ LAYERS
Besides interior design, I’m practicing in product design. In this project I designed and prototyped a lamp from natural materials — paper, wood.The LAYERS lamp is born from personal impressions gained during travels to Asian countries, where light is perceived not only as a functional element, but also as a tool for contemplation and creating a special atmosphere.The lamp is based on the principle of layering, through which light and surface interact subtly, forming a meditative visual image.
⊹ BLUEINK CABINET
The tattoo artist’s cabinet is conceived as an interior piece combining functionality, aesthetics and environmental friendliness. Its doors are made of scraps of various types of wood — each detail keeps a trace of its past, together they form a «living mosaic».This approach minimizes waste and also turns the product into an art object.
⊹ About photography & videography
An important part of my work is exploring form, color, and space by capturing them through lenses.
PrismIn this work, I composed a multi-layered image of an urban environment by combining photos taken on different devices. Each of them has its own optics, texture, and color rendering, so their combination turns the street into a space seen simultaneously in different periods of the epoch. The project shows that every look and device is unique.
