01 — About me

Hello, I’m Anastasia —

a communication designer based in Saint Petersburg, currently studying at HSE School of Design.

I work with visual identities, graphic systems, and illustration, exploring how research, culture, and conceptual thinking can shape meaningful design.I’m interested in projects that combine a strong idea with a distinctive visual language.

02 — My approach

My process moves through three stages:

01 / Discover Research the context, identify connections, and find what matters.02 / Interpret Turn observations and ideas into a clear visual concept.03 / Express Build a distinctive graphic language that communicates across different formats.

Kineshma

A city’s identity, reimagined.Visual Identity / Souvenir Design / Cultural ResearchThe challengeTo create a contemporary souvenir identity for Kineshma, a historic Russian town, while preserving its local character and cultural heritage. The approachThe project began with interviews with local residents and visits to regional museums. Their memories, associations, and perceptions of the town became the foundation for the visual concept. The solutionI developed a flexible graphic system based on recognizable local symbols, letterforms, and a color palette inspired by the atmosphere of the town. The modular elements can be combined into patterns and adapted to different souvenir products. The outcomeThe project received a prize and was commercially implemented. It demonstrates how research-driven design can connect cultural heritage with contemporary visual communication.

Task

To develop souvenir products for the city of Kineshma using a modern visual language. The project was created as part of the scientific and practical expedition «Revival, ” which is dedicated to supporting, developing, and drawing attention to the cultural and historical heritage of small towns in the Ivanovo Region.

Research

At the beginning of the work, a sociological study was conducted by surveying the population of Kineshma, aimed at identifying the key meaning‑forming elements from the perspective of the city’s residents. In addition, field trips and excursions to regional museums were organized to immerse participants in the historical context of the area.Respondents were also asked to name the colours and sensations associated with the city. Based on the responses, a muted yet sufficiently bright and modern palette was selected, conveying the sensations of calm, coziness, family, and the nature of the small homeland.

Logo

The logo is based on the most recognizable symbols of the city. The pictograms and silhouettes replicate the graphemes of the letters. The final versions of the logo incorporate a metaphor about the transformation of the area from the first mention of Kineshma in 1504 to the acquisition of city status in 1777.

The variability of elements makes it possible to achieve diverse patterns and expand the style across various souvenir media, while maintaining the convenience of maintaining and developing the concept in future applications.

Ust-Labinsk

A visual identity rooted in place.Visual Identity / Place Branding / Design WorkshopThe challengeTo develop a distinctive identity for Ust-Labinsk within a three-day design workshop, balancing historical continuity with a contemporary graphic language. The approachThrough field research, I explored the city’s architecture, local landmarks, and cultural symbols. The solutionThe identity combines pictograms inspired by the city’s distinctive features with a logo referencing its historical coat of arms and railway station typography.A perforation-inspired motif introduces a sense of openness and fresh air, reflecting the atmosphere of this southern town. The outcomeA concept of visual identity, adaptable to various communication formats and souvenir products, developed and implemented within a short timeframe.
